You may have been looking for an article about another Sumy regiment.<br><br>Sumy hussar regiment – formed in 1765 from the Sumy Sloboda Cossack Regiment. According to other sources, in 1764, two Pandur regiments, together with the Novomirgorod garrison and Serbian hussars, were reorganized into three settled cavalry regiments: the Black and Yellow hussars (that is, in Sumy hussar regiment) and Elisavetgrad pikinerny, as evidenced by the date on the regimental badge – 1651 (the formation of the Pandur regiments).<br>Locations1820 – Velizh, Vitebsk province. As part of the 1st Hussar Division (commander – Major General Bezobrazov 1st, headquarters – Velizh).1856-1860 – Rossiens.1876-1909 – Moscow (Khamovniki barracks).Regiment history<br>04/19/1853 – Hussar Lieutenant General Count von der Palen regiment. In 1864, the regiment was named the 1st Sumy Hussar Adjutant General of Count von der Palen. In 1865 the Crown Prince of Denmark became the chief of the regiment. In 1882, the regiment became dragoon and received the name of the 3rd Dragoon by His Royal Highness Crown Prince of Denmark. In 1906 – 3rd Dragoon Sumy of His Majesty King Frederick VIII of Denmark. In 1911, the regiment had the name – 1st Sumy Hussar of His Majesty King Frederick VIII of Denmark. From May 11, 1912 – the 1st Sumy hussar, and from August of the same year – the 1st Sumy hussar of General Seslavin.<br><br>Since 1875, the regiment was part of the 2nd brigade of the 1st Cavalry Division as part of the Grenadier Corps and lodged in the Khamovniki barracks in Moscow. The motive of the regimental march „Days of Our Life”, composed by the military conductor Lev Chernetsky, served as the basis for the famous song „A big Crocodile walked the streets …”.<br><br>Until 1812, the dolman of the Sumy hussar regiment had a sandy yellow color with blue cuffs and a collar. After 1812, the dolman was gray with red cuffs and a collar. In Odessa, in December 1918, a squadron of Sumy hussars was formed as part of the Consolidated Cavalry (from May 1, 1919 – the 3rd Cavalry) Regiment, which is part of the Separate Odessa Rifle Brigade of the Volunteer Army of the Odessa region. In March 1919, another squadron of the regiment was revived in Sevastopol. The Sumy people took part in the defense of Odessa in the spring of 1919, the Bredovsky campaign, and the of the Crimea in the fall of 1920. The main squadron of the regiment died on October 30, 1920 near the village of Mamut near Dzhankoy. The regiment’s officers also fought in the armies of Kolchak and Yudenich.
