From July 3rd until December 10th, a new exhibition dedicated to the katana (samurai swords) and “Samurai Bashi” – chopsticks designed as samurai swords – will be held on the 5th floor of Kotobukiya in Akihabara. There are more than 30 different pairs of “Samurai Chopsticks” on display, and a wide selection of famous katana replicas.

All of the swords have a fake blade, though. So if you had any fantasies of recreating a scene from “Kill Bill”, you’ll be greatly disappointed. Since these swords cannot cut anything. But don’t be too discouraged. Because you can still have your picture taken, holding a katana, as a souvenir! There is a special area reserved for taking pictures with a samurai sword. And don’t forget to visit the gift shop!

In this event, you can learn about the history of samurai swords. There is also a corner with information about the new product, “Samurai Bashi”, and the process of how these chopsticks are made. From the first draft until the product is complete and ready to be sold.

On the first day of the exhibition, a collaboration with “Touken Ranbu –Online–“ was announced, and a prototype of the product is also on display. However, it is forbidden to take photos of this prototype. Visitors, who fill out a survey about the exhibition, will get an original chopstick rest as a gift!
