First-Looks at the New Death Note One-Shot

Death Note is returning for a special one-shot created by original author and illustrator Tsugumi Oba and Obata Takeshi, and fans are now able to get a glimpse of the storyboard.

The reveals were first posted on Shueisha’s Jump Plus app. In addition, illustrator Obata Takeshi currently has an exhibition at Tokyo’s Arts Chiyoda 333 celebrating 30 years of his work titled, “Obata Takeshi 30th Work Anniversary Exhibition: NEVER COMPLETE” where 10 pages of the storyboard is on display. The story is confirmed to be 87 pages in length.

Obata Takeshi comments that the new one-shot will feel completely different from the original Death Note series, and things such as how people will use the Death Note will be very different as well.

The release date of the one-shot has not been revealed as of late.

For those who are in Tokyo, Obata’s exhibition will run until August 12th, 2019 at Arts Chiyoda 333. Business hours are from 10AM – 5PM with last entry being 30 minutes before close. Fridays, Saturdays as well as August 11th will have extended hours until 8PM.
