Samura Hiroaki‘s original manga Blade of the Immortal has been confirmed to be receiving a brand new anime adaptation, titled “Mugen no Juunin -Immortal-“. The new anime will be a complete adaptation.
The original manga ran from June 25th, 1993 to December 25th, 2012. The story tells of a samurai named Manji who is cursed with immortality, who has to kill 1000 men in order to gain back mortality.
Previously, an anime adaptation of Blade of the Immortal was produced by Bee Train and Production I.G, which aired in 2008 with a 13-episode run.
A live-action film was also produced in 2017 with the well-known Takashi Miike as director and starred the ex-SMAP member Kimura Takuya.
Currently no other information has been released to the public.
