It all started with a dream―to bring a traditional bar to Akihabara―and after a lot of hard work and persuasion, Bar Sekirei opened in 2011.  As  a very regal, traditional style bar, Bar Sekirei is perfect for taking a soothing break from the high energy of Akihabara.  Also, Bar Sekirei, like the butler cafe-esque Autumn Leaf, is one of only a few places in Akihabara that boasts a high ratio of female customers.  Come inside and check out the high-class interior and extensive library of alcohol.

With 12 counter seats and 8 table seats available, Bar Sekirei finds a good balance between cozy and open that is great for throwing a few back.  You can also rent the place out for a total of 22 people as well if you’re having an event.

You’ll also notice a good amount of anime and manga paraphernalia on display.  Word on the street is that famous manga animators also drop by on occasion.   The owner is also a big fan of Tiger & Bunny 2 and has some very interesting items for fans on display.

Have a drink and stay awhile

Bar Sekirei is a very legitimate bar as you can see from their large selective of beverages.  Whether you’re a vodka man, a whiskey woman, or anything else for that matter, you’ll be able to find something to tickle your fancy and throat as you float off to Neverland.  They frequently update their website with the newest bottles they’ve gotten here, so keep an eye out for what’s fresh.

One of the most interesting things I found at Bar Sekirei was their anime and manga themed custom drinks.  They have a whole book of them!  Featuring drinks themed after numerous popular works, you’ll have just as much fun going through the book as you will drinking your special concoction.

They also offer a nice food menu with snacks, like cheese and ham rolls or nuts, that are great for drinking, as well as some bigger dishes, such as sautés, if you’re looking to have a meal as well.

Bar Sekirei is a great change of pace in the madness that is Akihabara, and is a wonderful option for going out for drinks with your friends after a busy day exploring Tokyo.  Make sure to stop by and enjoy a few the next time you’re around Akiba!
