Kemono Friends, the incredibly popular and charming anime series based around animal girls, has spawned an incredible amount of spin-off and in-person events, such as the famous Japanese penguin that fell in love with one of the series’ characters.

However, now an all-new in-person collaboration is coming to Japan, this time with the game’s Kemono Friends 3 mobile app game–a collaboration with Shizuoka’s Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium!

The event grants the game’s players two exclusive character skins to use in the Kemono Friends game, one based around the famous thought-to-be-extinct coelacanth, and the other based on the internet-beloved vampire squid!

The gifts don’t end there though, as players also get an outfit based on that of the employee uniform at the aquarium, plus in-game currency and other valuable items. Those deciding to visit the aquarium in person also receive an exclusive sticker based on the characters mentioned above.

The collaboration is one of many done by the Kemono Friends Project team with in-person animal exhibits, such as aquariums and zoos, and the Numazu Aquarium is unique in the fact that it houses frozen and stuffed specimens of deep-sea fish, such as the coelacanth. It’s the only one in Japan that houses stuffed specimens, and the only one in the world with frozen specimens!

The event goes from August 19th to August 3rd, 2023, and is an incredible way for fans of the Kemono Friends series to both see the franchise in a new collaborative light, support Japan’s aquariums, and get some great rewards for the mobile game all at once!
