To celebrate the release of the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake, renowned game studio Konami has announced a special series of public art and events to be unveiled in Tokyo! Using art from the game, a new public advertisement display is set to use an interesting mechanic to garner attention.
To kick things off, a special sign featuring the protagonist of the game will be placed in front of MAGNET by SHIBUYA109 event space, held in front of Shibuya’s iconic 109 building. The exclusive art piece, just like in the game, will corrode with reddish-yellow rust rapidly in real-time every day until September 24th, 2024, with organizers teasing a special reveal on the advertisement once the final day hits.
On top of the outdoor display, a number of engaging sets are planned to market the game at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, including a special stage and theater that are made to mimic the game’s iconic and daunting atmosphere. Special stickers and shirts will also be made available at the booth, including a live gameplay showcase and commentary.
The initial rusting advert goes up in Shibuya on September 18th, 2024, and will be up until September 30th, 2024, with the final erosion day being the 24th. Those wanting an interesting way to feel like they’re in the world of Silent Hill should stop by and witness the rust taking over every day before it’s gone!
