The long running “Evangelion and Japanese Swords Exhibition” is making its way to Tokyo again after almost six years! It will be arriving at Shinjuku Takashimaya in August 2019, along with a special Evangelion Artwork Selection exhibit.
The exhibition combines the futuristic world of Evangelion with the traditional craft of Japanese sword making. Master swordsmiths from around Japan created blades in the image of Rebuild of Evangelion, the film series reboot of the original 1996 anime.
A total of 26 pieces are on display, including swords that are made to replicate iconic weapons such as the Lance of Longinus and the Magoroku Exterminate Sword.
In addition to the return of this iconic exhibition, roughly 200 pieces of key animation art from the three Rebuild of Evangelion movies that have been released so far, will also be on display as part of the Evangelion Artwork Selection exhibit.
We can’t forget the roots either either; the exhibit will also feature animation cell pieces from the original Evangelion anime to introduce the history of this cult classic series.
If that wasn’t enough, the official Evangelion store in Ikebukuro Parco, EVANGELIONSTORE TOKYO01 will be having a pop-up featuring both new and exclusive items as well as traditional best-sellers.
This exhibition is a must-see for Evangelion fans! What part of the event are you most looking forward to? Let us know below!
